Bemanistyle hat geschrieben: Dan "Remy" Dickinson announced today that the popular IIDX score tracking website VJArmy, and it's sister site Pop'n Navy, will officially be closing their doors for good on June 6th of this year. As he posted on the VJ Army Forums:
"After over five years, over 800,000 score entries, over 3,500 user registrations, three (maybe four?) servers, over 1,000 items sold on Play-Asia, and nearly 200,000 forum posts - it's closing time.
Today, May 3rd, begins a phased shut down of the VJA/PNN network, to completed by June 6th of this year.
There is a laundry list of reasons as to why this decision has been made - some are mundane, others are personal. There are four that matter the most:
- In terms of coding talent, the three programmers/designers (myself, Rura, and liggum) who have primarily developed both sites over the last 5 years have no time/energy to continue to maintain them, let alone finish the things we started.
- In terms of the forums, we are out of moderation staff who have the energy to wrangle what is best described as an energetic community. Back in 2004/2005, the forum could have survived without constant moderation, but it cannot now.
- Traffic analysis for vjarmy.com revealed something I hadn't banked on: the focus on the site has shifted away from primarily being a score site to primarily being a forum.
- The fate of CS Bemani titles seems a bit up in the air at the moment, with the confusion surrounding the Empress CS "announcement" and the fact that we haven't seen a PNM CS title since mid 2007.
This shutdown will close VJ Army (both versions), Pop'n Navy, and the forums. (Due to the uniqueness of the content and the value to the community at large, RemyWiki will remain in operation.)
I realize that this plan is a deathblow to a community that has flourished for the last five years. There is never a good time to close a service like this one; I know you all wouldn't be coming to the site if it didn't mean something to you. I apologize for any difficulty or pain this may cause."
Dan plans to make as much data as possible from both sites exportable, allowing users to keep anything they may have entered for future use.
This comes right on the heels of our announcement of the next version of bemanistyle being in the works. And while we didn't plan to announce the details of our new features until it got closer to launch, for the sake of giving avid VJ Army users something to look forward to (if they choose to use it) we have been working on developing a new score tracker for the next version of the site with expanded features, and an xml import feature for a user's VJ Army scores.
Dan's announcement definitely puts a damper on a week full of big announcements and events for us here at bemanistyle. The VJ Army website and community have offered a ton of great information and resources for the bemani community at large for 5 years, and Dan has always been a really cool guy as far back as my first personal encounters with him on #ctc some 6 or 7 years ago. We here wish him and the rest of the VJ Army ream the best of luck with any future endeavors and thank them for all of their hard work and dedication over the past several years.

Lies mal was auf der Seite steht, lol.SolidStateSquad hat geschrieben:Until December 31st 2009, previous users of the original VJ Army site are able to use this page to import their scores from VJ Army into Solid State Squad, private scores and all. To get the process started, please fill in your VJ Army account details below and your scores will be automatically retrieved. Please try to get it right the first time - to prevent abuse, no user can run this script more than once in any given half-hour period.
